Well Done to Mr Mc Veigh and the Eco-Schools Council who were awarded the GREEN FLAG !!
Eco schools Green flag.
On Thursday the 13th of JuneSt. Joseph’s had two important visitors who inspected the school to see if it would achieve the green flag status.
Green flags are only given to the top schools that make a very specific set of criteria which marks them out as an excellent Eco school. Although the pupils where nervous, hoping that all their good green work would be rewarded they should not have been so anxious. The inspectors Ms Murray and Mrs Corkin where hugely impressed by the work that the Eco committee had completed in previous year throughout the school.
As well as inspecting the school wildlife garden and recycling centre the ladies enjoyed talking to the committee about the various ventures that they and undertook throughout the year. These included the Big Spring Clean, Operation Energy and feeding the birds.
After 2 hours, which felt like two years!, the school was a awarded the coveted Eco Green Flag. The flag was presented to a very proud Mr Mc Veigh and his Eco council in the school hall. Mr Mc Veigh reminded the Eco committee that this was not the end of the schools’ hard work to achieve a high standard of Eco awareness but merely the beginning.
The Green Flag will be flying high over the school in the coming months. A big thank you and well done to everyone involved.
