US State Senator Visit
On 24th February 2014 St Joseph’s hosted a very special guest at our school. US State Senator Jim Keane came to visit much to the excitement of both staff and pupils. The day began as the Year 6/7 pupils welcomed the Senator on his arrival with a Guard of Honour. Mrs Mc Mullan accompanied by the school Head Boy Luke O’Rourke and Head Girl Brieanna Evans greeted the Senator and his wife with a warm welcome. They were then introduced to the teaching staff and the Chief Executive of SEELB Mr Gregory Butler and the Chief Executive of CCMS Mr Jim Clarke as well as the Chair of the Board of Governors Mr Niall Addis. After photographs in the front foyer , the party went into the school hall.
There they were greeted by pupils , parents and friends from the community. The Senator was treated to a concert showcasing the musical talent of the pupils atSt Joseph’s. The children performed songs , Irish Dancing , Guitar playing , Tin Whistle tunes and a special poem written in honour of the Senators visit. A presentation of gifts then followed after speeches.
The event ended with lunch for all guests, parents and friends from the community.
