The Farm

March /April 2021 “ Spring Farm”
During this month P1/P2 have learnt all about ‘The farm and farm animals in Spring’.
The children developd their knowledge and skills through a variety of play experiences:
- Shop – A farm shop selling milk, butter, cheese, egg, fruit and vegetables.
- Role play – Dress up as a farmer and act.
- Act out the story ‘Mud Walk’ – my wishy washy.
- Learn about differences between adult, baby animals.
- Living / non-living things on the farm.
- Farm live, crops and machinery.
- Safety on the farm.
- We will paint farm animals, tractors or diggers etc.
- Make farm animals out of play dough.
- Junk art – make a farm yard scene.
- Grow sunflowers and measure their growth.
In ‘World Around Us’ we learnt about:
- How the weather affects the crops on the farm.
- Where do animals live on the farm.
- How do they get fed / clean.
- Know different names of animals.
- The jobs of the farmer.
Numeracy:
- Sort seeds.
- Compare colour / size of animals.
- Use money in shop change from 10p and beyond.
- Measure how much the sunflowers grow.
Literacy:
- Books about farm / animals.
- Write list of jobs on the farm.
- Write about ‘Mud Walk’ – Three wishes.
- Narrative writing – A farm story.
