Snowy Finland
On Sunday 28th January, Mrs McMullan and Miss Murphy travelled to Finland. After a very long day travelling—3 flights and 12 hours later we arrived to very cold temperatures - it was –27 degrees !! Very, very cold !! The following day we went to visit a school in Kilminnkii, the staff and pupils made us feel very welcome and we enjoyed learning about their culture and school system. We tasted some of their local food—including reindeer!! Most children travel to school by walking or on a sleigh, they travel about 4 miles in freezing weather !! The purpose of the visit was to set up a joint project with the Finnish school and schools in Italy, Hungary, Portugal, Latvia and Turkey. We are looking forward to learning more about life in these countries, about their traditions, cultures, myths and legends and national festivals.
