We’ll Keep the Eco flag flying here!
Last year the Eco council of Saint Joseph’s were award the coveted green flag for all their stunning work promoting the Eco schools project. There was one slight problem with this award and that was, we received a huge flag but had no pole to fly it from!!! That is until two of the handiest handy men in all of Co Down heard of our plight. Through the nagging of their well-meaning wives, Paul Magorrian and Jim Maguire became aware of the schools predicament and could not stand aside and watch the coveted green flag remain folded on the top of Mr McVeigh’s Cupboard.
Quick as a flash they procured a 10 metre pole and began to erect it in a place where everyone could see the school’s glory. It was a struggle but these two colossus of the DIY world overcame all difficulties. Now the flag flies high above the schools displaying the school’s high level of dedication to preserving the environment. And if the president of America comes a visiting we now have somewhere to hang old glory.
So the Eco council would like to say a big thank you to Paul and Jim…It’s nice to have some real men who know how to use a screwdriver about the place once in a while!
