Sports Night 2015
Sports night.
On Tuesday last week the school held its annual sports night. The Sun was shining and as ever the lovely people of Ballykinlar came out to support the young athletes of Saint Joseph’s. Once the shock that there was no tombola, yes I repeat NO TOMBOLA, everyone settled down and enjoyed a wonderful night of high speed jinxes and japes.
The children competed in many events ranging from the high octane buzz of the egg and spoon to the calculating risk of the obstacle course. Parents were left in no doubt that your young children were the sport stars of the future.
As always there was a barbeque with a range of meats on offer. All this tasty meat could be wasted down with a nice luke-warm tin of coke. Once again a big thank you to all the wonderful helpers who either painted faces or sold burgers and hotdogs like they were going out of fashion.
A big thank you to all the parents who helped lift the equipment back into the store after the night’s entertainment. With a special mention to RT who demonstrated his super human strengths by carrying two benches single handedly. Now there is a man who has had his spinach. So for another year the tracksuits and shorts can go back into hibernation and hopefully next year will be just as good, but with Tombola.
