Peace Proms 2015
Once again St Joseph's sang on Sunday 8th February at the 'Peace Proms'.
Twenty boys and girls from our school were very excited to sing along with 2000 other children from all over the North of Ireland in this prestigious event.
The children sang with the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland(CBOI) which was established in 1995 as a peace initiative and is now composed of 120 young people from all over Ireland – North and South.
The CBOI is led by some of Ireland’s top professional musicians including: Conductor, Gearord Grant; Violinist, Patricia Treacy and Uillean Piper, Patrick Martin.
After our rehearsal and lunch, it was lights, camera, action as all the children waited for the show to begin and what an amazing performance. The sang and danced to Big City Swing, Happy, Let it God, One Direction Medley, Monster Medley , There’s a place for us, You’ll never walk alone and May we never have to say goodbye.
Some quotes from the children:
Sorcha: ‘I enjoyed it all so much’
Katie: ‘ It was really good fun’
James: ‘I loved the orchestra playing along with us’
Ralph: ‘Happy was my favourite song but we sang ‘Ghost Busters’ and the guys came out all dressed up – it was class’
Phoebe: ‘Everyone was watching us, it was great’
Caoimhe C; I enjoyed it when the people came out dressed as monsters.
Eimhear: ‘I liked the lights they changed colours with every song’
