Day One
What a great start to the residential.......RAIN, RAIN, RAIN, however it didn't dampen the spirits of the VERY excited P7 children (just the staff!!). After meeting at the Tollymore Centre, exciting decisions had to be made like who to share a room with? How much fizzy drink/sweets can be consumed in 3 days? Who took the most luggage? Groups were sorted and the activities began.......mountain hiking on 'the Hen Mountain,' orienteering in Tollymore and Canoeing at Castlewellan Lake. Groups will be rotated so everyone will get to try all the activities. After a tasty lunch of soup, sandwiches, Brownies ( and a Mars Bar!!) there was some time to relax, unpack the tonnes of sweets from the suitcases and tip the contents of their entire bags onto the floor!! The afternoon skies cleared and an enjoyable and safe day was had by all.......... We are hoping that after such a busy day we might get some sleep tonight......but I'd say that's wishful thinking!!!
