Our class have been taking part in a Junior Entrepreneur Project this term. We had some amazing ideas, but we voted to set up a sweet stall at our annual Bring and Buy Sale. We surveyed the children in school to find out their favourite sweets and then bought these in Makro. We made them into 20p and 50p mix-ups. They were very popular and we sold loads!! We were then invited to showcase our ideas with other schools in Belfast.
On Tuesday 6th April P6/7 we went to the Titanic building, Belfast to attend our showcase day for the Junior Entrepreneur Program. When we arrived Mash Direct provided us with a snack (a Sukie drink and biscuit ), then we went into the Titanic Building and went up three steep escalators (I was so scared!!). When we reached the top of the building we were then directed to our table and we set up our stall. We had taken some samples of our sweets in nice jars, photographs of the event and copies of our work.
Each school had their own work displayed. After we set up our stand we had a picture taken with the owners of Mash Direct, Tracy and Martin Hamilton , who were sponsoring the program. Then I looked to my right and Rory Best the captain of Ulster and Ireland Rugby teams was standing at the stall beside us getting a picture!! Once he had finished getting the photo my teacher grabbed the Ipad and asked him could we have got a picture with him, He said yes. When we had the picture taken we carried on setting up our stall and getting it ready for the other children coming round and looking at our stall.
A few minutes later James & Dillon came up to me and said “we’ve got Rory Bests Autograph!!” I then knew I had to get one! I looked around to see where he was. I saw that there was a crowd of people around him, so I then went and got a piece of paper and ran up to the crowd trying not to trip over anyone. When I got there I saw that there was a gap in the crowd, so I moved into the gap and I got my piece of paper put it in the middle of the crowd. The next minute I had his Autograph....I was so excited !! Next we listened to the founders of Mash Direct talk about the Junior Entrepreneur Program and how they set up their company. Rory Best also spoke about his rugby career and answered some questions. We were then presented with a flag and plaque for taking part in the project and had our class photo taken on the famous steps from the Titanic !!
Next we went to the Ulster Museum, Belfast where we had our lunch and then went to explore the Museum. After a very busy and enjoyable day, we went back to school.
We all really Enjoyed the day out!!
