Community Relations, Equality and Diversity (CRED)
Pupils in St.Joseph’s and Newcastle P.S are taking part in a CRED project based on understanding and respect for disability. Pupils from both schools are meeting regularly throughout the school year to develop their knowledge, understanding and tolerance of those in our society who experience disability.
Through a variety of activities the children will work in mixed groups fostering close friendships whilst developing a culture of positive interaction.
The activities will include:
- Disability Awareness Workshop
- Disability Art Day
- Visit from Stormont Minister for Disability and a disabled person
- 3 day residential
- Special Olympics
All the pupils have enjoyed the experiences so far and are looking forward to future activities.
