P6/7 Coding Workshop
This week (from 6th October 2018) is EU Coding Week. EU Code Week is a European initiative which aims to bring coding and digital literacy to everybody in a fun and engaging way.Learning to code has many benefits for us as it helps us to understand how technology works and develop new skills to use in school and at home.
This morning P6 and P7 had an amazing coding workshop delivered by Ruth and Danny from the NERVE centre in Belfast. St.Joseph's are very lucky to have a partnership with the Centre this year, this partnership will help to enhance the use of ICT throughout the school.
Today, Ruth and Danny taught us some coding. We used some exciting equipment including iPad and spheros. Spheros are 3D objects which can be coded to travel around following your instructions.
Ruth and Danny also brought along a special visitor to our school today. Nao is a humanoid robot which can be programmed to do various things that humans can do. Today we did some push ups with Nao as well as Tae Kwon Do and some dancing.
Nao was so special that we had to invite all of the children in from the other classes to see him in action.
We had such an excitingmorning learning and can’t wait to welcome our visitors from NERVE back to our school next month.
