Olympics
P3 - P7 travelled to Ballynahinch on Thursday 7th June to take part in the 'Schools Olympics'. Saint Joseph’s prides itself on its sporting heritage and this year the school was fortunate to showcase our athletic prowess by taking part in a Mini Olympic event held in Ballynahinch. Although the day itself was very wet this did nothing to dampen the spirits of the finest group of athletes St Joseph's has ever produced.
After an unfruitful morning session in which our small team found it difficult to compete against much bigger schools , the break through came in the evening with Peter Mc Mullan winning a bronze medal in the blue ribbon event, the P7 boys 100m Sprint. After that victory spirits were lifted and the medals began to flow, most notably a silver medal in the P7 girls Javelin for Claira Keenan. A big thanks for everyone who took part and to those hardy souls who braved the elements to watch our glorious boys and girls. Although the weather spoilt the day, the children still had a great time.
