Drama Day with our Cross Community Link - Newcastle P.S
On Friday 5th February Primary 6 and 7 were lucky enough to have a visit from our friends at Newcastle Primary School.
15 primary 7 children from Newcastle joined us for an introductory workshop to help us to get to know each other as we will be spending lots of time together between now and the end of the year.
We started the day by introducing ourselves and we then played some games including a challenge to see which team could work together to blow up the most balloons.
After break we got back together with our teams and each team was given an envelope. Inside each envelope was the name of a fairy tale and a list of 6 characters. We weren’t given any other information, luckily we all knew the stories very well. In our teams we were given 20 minutes to decide who would play each character and come up with a script including each of the characters. We also had to find a suitable costume from what we were given.
After 20 minutes of practise it was time for each group to put on their 5 minute performance. We were treated to performances of Cinderella, Snow white, Rapunzel, Jack and the Beanstalk and The Three Little Pigs. Each performance was very entertaining and some were also very funny.
We finished off our morning with some more team games and then we were able to have lunch together before the children from Newcastle Primary had to get their bus back to school.
We can’t wait for the next activity day!
