Cancer Focus Visits School
Cancer Focus N.I came to visit our school on Monday 10th October and visited every classroom to deliver a lesson.
P1/2
We were very excited in our classroom when we had a visit from two ladies, Rachael and Louise, from Cancer Focus and Genevieve the goat.
The P1’s and P2’s listened to the story told by Louise and then we played a game on the Interactive White Board about healthy foods and taking exercise. After this Louise said that if we shouted for Genevieve she would appear! Guess what, Genevieve was in the corridor. We all got hugs from her and we had our photo taken.
We had a great morning.
P2/3 learn how to keep fit and healthy
We had such fun learning about Genevieve and the Farmyard Olympic. We learned how to keep fit and healthy and took part in the Fit Factor, it was so much fun!
P4/5 Food Detectives
We had visitors in our class telling us about the different things that are in our food. Too much salt and sugar can be very bad for you so we wanted to find the bad foods and the good foods. Danny got to wear the special outfit and we had a great time looking at and sorting all the different food groups. In the end we found out that Mr Mc Veigh has a very unhealthy lunch but sure wouldn’t you know that by looking at him!
P6/7 Smoke Busters
P6/7 had a fun time learning about how to say NO to SMOKING ! We found out lots of facts about the effects of smoking on our food, appetite and health. The best part was when we did role play, we had to practise how to say NO, NO, NO to someone when they try to get us to smoke! We all enjoyed the visit from Rachel and Louise and are NEVER EVER GOING to SMOKE !!
