We\'re going to the Zoo, Zoo, Zoo......

A trip to the Zoo!

Ok important things first. Although we have a few monkeys in primary 5 6 and 7, no one was left behind. Apparently the  head zoo keeper at Belfast Zoo didn’t fancy keeping any of pupils of Saint Joseph’s as She said  “They look too much like hard work and I think they might frighten the visitors way!”

(THAT’S NOT TRUE! THEY’RE NOT HARD WORK AT ALL!)

The boys and girls had a wonderful trip and were superbly behaved throughout the day. There was many things to see and do but some of the Highlights included the cheeky monkeys who thought their cousins had arrived and were giving the boys and girls high fives through the glass of their enclosure. The children enjoyed the seals and sea lions who were greeted with a chorus of sea lion calls from a very talented group of animal imitators. Well done P7

One disappointment however was the penguins that could not even speak never mind fly an aeroplane how these pretty useless birds could help over throw a super villain such as Dave the octopus is anyone’s guess.

Everyone enjoyed seeing Mr Mc Veigh’s role model in life… the sloth who lived up to expectation by doing nothing… a bit like the man himself! and who would want more than to see a hyena eating three dead birds. Of course the teacher’s highlight was the nice cup of coffee after climbing a great big blooming hill just to see some bears that wouldn’t come out of their wee house!

The trip was finished off with a half an hour in the Zoo’s own adventure play park. The teacher’s hoped this would tire the kids out for the journey home and they could travel in the luxury of a quiet bus… no such luck. Never mind, three cheers for the zoo!
